Cinematic Animation

In Bloom City Match, players join Oak on a mission to breathe life back into the city. Through engaging match-3 puzzles, players help restore urban spaces, rescue animals, and support the townsfolk as they bring their city back to bloom. Every move adds more color, greenery, and joy, transforming the city into a thriving community. ​ Rovio asked us to rig and animate several of the city environments in the meta layer in Spine. We also provided animation supervision for the meta production. With that pipeline in place, we shifted focus to in-game character animation.

Pet Panic is a mobile match-3 game produced by Queen Digital Entertainment. Cinematic joined the project early on to help shape the game’s visual language, character behavior, and animation style - laying the foundation for expressive characters and long-term scalability. We worked on the character design of the two lead characters, Luna the Cat and Buddy the dog. We brought them to life through Spine with a focus on nuanced motion, clear emotional beats, and distinct personality. ​​At the core of our contribution is a flexible avatar system built in Spine that supports nearly six million unique character combinations.
